Students in Kindergarten, 1st Grade and 2nd Grade have been learning about the “magical” healing and protective properties of fruits and vegetables. Students are discovering the importance of having the goal of eating foods that help them think better, feel better and perform better instead of choosing to eat foods just because they taste delicious. Students identified the difference between whole foods and processed foods. They understand that most whole foods are foods that you can find in a garden or on a farm. Processed foods have been changed from their natural state. Many processed foods come in packages and have additives/preservatives and flavor enhancers. They were able to conclude that the best foods to eat are whole foods or minimally processed foods.
